- The best way to select a word processor is to buy them all and try each
- one. Let's face it, that's the only way.
-
- I own ProWrite, Final Writer and Wordworth. They all have their
- advantages: ProWrite is lightning fast, but works best with printer fonts;
- Final Writer works best with PostScript and its library of fonts is
- terrific, also FW handles graphics very well and has good drawing tools.
- If you have a PostScript printer, Final Writer is the best choice.
- Wordworth works well with Compugraphic fonts, but prints slower because
- the computer has to do all the bitmapping. I have problems printing
- PostScript with Wordworth.
-
- Wordworth has a couple advantages over the others. It has text frames,
- like DTP programs, and it has its own printer drivers so you never lack
- for a driver. Unfortunately, the text frames work clumsily; it's hard to
- click into them. Also, you can't line things up with the ruler as easily
- as with Final Writer. Wordworth is slower than FW and many of the features
- seem poorly implemented. However, Wordworth is very usable and is
- improving dramatically with each upgrade.
-
- I use Final Writer mostly, because it works well and is polished. I wish
- it had text frames and the ability to import PC graphics (as does
- Wordworth). Also it doesn't allow me to print in color to the HP1200C at
- the office because I don't have a driver. But, for general word processing
- with ease of use, I would have to pick Final Writer.
-
- I love word processors and usually buy whatever comes out. Then I use them
- for a while to see what they can do. Just reading a review in a magazine
- or getting someone else's opinion doesn't work for me.
-
- Best of luck.
